Tennant and Tennant have been quietly making their presence felt in the last few weeks with their exhibition at Pentreath & Hall. A collaboration between Isabel and Stella Tennant, the collection informs us that Isabel has been gilding professionally for an astonishing thirty years, and reminds us that Stella was studying sculpture when she was discovered as a model.
The sisters work together out of their studio in Scotland where they practice traditional techniques of water and oil gilding, using many shades of gold leaf, palladium and caplain.
Their designs are naturally exactly the sort of thing we love at Tradescant & Son – lavishly and intricately painted beetles and butterflies adorn the range of mirrors, lamps and tiles, and we look forward very much to seeing their forthcoming London showroom.
