I won’t say that it’s a new concept, but I really like the townhouse showroom that some of the most stylish retailers have been employing lately. I talked about Rose Uniacke’s design of Jo Malone’s London showroom the other day, and today I want to admire Jessica McCormack’s showroom, housed in a beautiful building at 7 Carlos Place in London.
This terrace of houses was built in 1893 with a slightly Jacobean tone which comes across now as somewhat gothic, which suits Jessica McCormack’s taste perfectly. She has furnished the house with antiques from her family’s collection, added to with finds from Lassco, such as the stunning salvaged flooring, and although the house had been converted into rather grim offices when she bought the building, the stunning Georgian fireplaces were intact.
The house doubles as her home and her showroom, and the principle rooms have been arranged in a welcoming manner, suited to relaxed private appointments, all the more covetable since she withdrew her designs from all other retailers.
